All instruments lose accuracy over time due to normal usage and the environmental conditions to which they are exposed.

What is NIST Calibration?

NIST stands for the National Institute for Standards and Technology. This organization is responsible for maintaining the master for different measurements, such as the standard "foot", standard, "second", or standard "pound". NIST also maintains the standard for temperature, humidity and pressure.

NIST Traceable means that the measuring standard can be traced directly back to the master standard maintained by the NIST organization.

NIST-Traceable does not tell you the measurement accuracy of a metrologty service in any detail. Only metrology services that can document their ISO 17025 standard provided data on their best measurement uncertainty.

    No, the logger is designed to look for an open channel before sending data. If a channel is in use, the logger/repeater will look for anther open channel or wait to transmit until an open channel can be found. FCC Part 15 Compliance is Pending.

    Yes, Here is how it works:
    All logged data is saved to the database. Once saved none of the data can be changed or deleted.
    The Software allows you to schedule regular backups of the database to any location on your network.
    Once regular backups have started, install the Network WiZARD2 software - included on your WiZARD2 CD on any PC connected to the network.
    The Network software will look at the database copy sitting on the network.
    You can view all saved logged data, create charts and graphs and export data. No changes to system settings can be made from the Network location.
    Multiple PC''s can run the Network software.
    A standard computer running MS Windows XP w/service pack 3, Vista or 7 with 2 available USB ports and 1 GB RAM. This computer will need to run 24/7 for the network to run efficiently.

    NOTE: Be sure to change your computer Screen Saver and Power settings to NEVER for all options. The Display can be told to turn off after a period of time.

    Now that you are ready to move the Loggers and Repeaters to their locations, there is a quick easy way to test the signal strength:

    Pressing down on the Push to Start button will force the logger to transmit. If the logger is getting through to the Receiver the LED will blink BLUE. If the logger can not reach the Receiver the LED will blink BLUE & RED

    If the Logger connects via the Receiver, simply walk the logger to its target location and press and hold the Push to Start button and watch the LED. If there are several BLUE/RED flashes, the location is bad and the signal can not get through. Try moving the logger around while holding down the Push to Start button looking for a BLUE flash.

    If the Logger connects via a Repeater, take the Repeater and Logger to the Repeater location and press and hold the Push to Start button. A BLUE flash indicates that the Repeater location is good. Move the logger to its location and repeat the test.

    If the Logger connects via a Repeater connected to a Repeater etc. Take the Logger and all Repeaters in the chain to the first Repeater location and press the Push to Start button while watching the LED blink. Repeat this for each Repeater using the logger LED to verify placement.

    The software notifies you in two ways of alarm conditions (at the PC running the software).

    The Equipment Status Screen displays all loggers with alarm conditions (high/low alarm, low battery, due for calibration) with a red box and a pop-up notification of alarm conditions will appear.

    WR225 with WiZARD2 SECURE software also features email/text notification of alarm conditions.

  • When the Logger is setup via the Wizard Software, it is coded to communicate with the Receiver connected to that PC.
  • The Logger will wake up to send data to the Receiver every 5 samples or 5 minutes - whichever comes first.
  • If the Logger is taking a sample every 10 seconds, it will send a Transmission every 50 seconds to the Receiver that includes the logged data and Logger battery strength.
  • If the logger is taking a sample every 10 minutes, it will send a Transmission every 5 minutes to the Receiver. If there are no new data points, the logger will simply send null data and Logger battery strength.
  • The Receiver will take that data and load it into the Wizard database on the PC.
  • The Receiver will then send a confirmation signal back to the logger telling it that all data has been received and stored.
  • The logger will save all sample points writing over the oldest saved point with the newest one using a wrap-when-full function.
  • If the logger does not receive a confirmation signal from the Repeater, it will save the data just sent and continue logging until the next Transmission time is reached.
  • Now the Logger will send the saved data from the previous transmission and the newly logged data to the receiver.
  • If no confirmation signal from the Receiver is received, the Logger will continue to store all logged data.

  • Every component: Receiver, Repeaters, Loggers have an unique ID number. When installing each component via the PC, each Logger and Repeater is told where to send logged data.
  • If you have more than one Wizard Wireless Network in your facility, the Loggers and Repeaters will only send their signal to the registered Receiver. The Receiver will not accept a signal from a device not registered on the base PC.
  • If the Logger has a remote probe, make sure that the probe is plugged all of the way in. Double check to make sure it is secure (the probe should not unplug easily).

    If the probe is secure or the Logger does not have a remote probe
    Unplug the USB from the Logger/Repeater
    Remove AC power and turn the unit off
    Leave for 1 minute.
    Reconnect the USB cable
    Add Logger/Repeater window should open.
    Add unit.
    Unplug from USB per instructions, turn on and connect AC power (if needed)

    If the previous setup does not work, there could be a USB issue with the PC. Try a different USB port or unplug unit from USB, shutdown WiZARD2 software and reboot PC.

    Power Settings:
    From Control Panel select System & Security / Power Options / Create a Power Plan
    Select High Performance and click on Next
    Select NEVER for Put the Computer to Sleep / Save

    Display Settings:
    Right click on Desktop and select Personalize / Screen Saver
    Select None and Save

    Update Settings:
    From Control Panel select Security / Windows Update
    Select Turn automatic updating on or off
    Under Important Updates, select Download updates but let me choose whether to install them. Save

    This can happen for a couple reasons:

    1) Look in the task bar to see if there an information window open prompting you to:

    a)unplug the USB

    b) reboot the PC after adding a device.

    These are windows that normally open on top of the WiZARD window so that you can reply to them, if they are not closed they will lock up WiZARD. Close these windows. Make sure you do not click OK to reboot the PC.

    WiZARD2 should resume normal operation.

    2) If #1 above does not apply and you can not close WiZARD2 normally CNTL/ALT/DEL to close the WiZARD2 Software via the Task Manager then open WiZARD2

    If you have any other applications open (including internet software) close it down.

    If the system locked up while adding the Receiver:
    Disconnect the usb cable from the Receiver.
    Unplug the AC adapter and turn the power switch to off  leave for 1 minute.
    Reconnect the AC adapter and turn the power switch to on.
    Reconnect the USB.
    Open the WiZARD2 software and wait for the Receiver to connect

    If the system locked up while adding a Logger or Repeater:
    Disconnect the usb cable from the Logger/Repeater.
    Unplug the AC adapter and turn the power switch to off  leave for 1 minute.
    Open the WiZARD2 software and wait for the Receiver to connect.
    Reconnect the AC adapter and turn the power switch to on.
    Reconnect the USB to the Logger/Repeater and add.

    When field data is not valid, a red circle with an exclamation point in the middle will pop up.

    To find out what is wrong, place your cursor over the red circle. A balloon will open explaining what needs to be corrected.

    Windows 7 PCs: Must select Show Hidden Files by opening Folder Options, click the View tab, select Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives, click Apply and OK. From explorer go to: c:users(user login ID)AppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram FilesDicksonDickson Wizarddb

    Once the Receiver has lost its connection with the PC, reconnect it then close down the WiZARD2 software and then reopen. The Receiver should now show as connected.

    It is recommended that the host PC remain on 24/7 and rebooted a couple times per month.

    If the PC is turned off for a period of time there is a possibility that some data may be lost. The Loggers will save logged data until full and will then write over the oldest saved data with new data.
    The strength of the signal between the Logger and Receiver/Repeater is intermittent. Find a new location for the Logger or use a Repeater to boost the signal.
    This will not affect the logger. The logger will send a transmission and updated Time of Last Transmission. No data will be altered or missed.

    10 quick blue/red/green flash: Unit Powered On

    Blue Flash: Logger/Repeater sending data upstream to Receiver/Repeater; Receiver being polled by PC

    Green Flash: Receiver/Repeater acknowledging receipt of data from Logger/Repeater;

    4 Long Green Flashes: Logger/Repeater acknowledging wireless change

    Solid Red: Receiver buffer is full Loggers and Repeaters cannot send new data until buffer is cleared. (If Receiver no longer shows as connected see 13k in technical support section below)
    This can happen, especially if the PC or Receiver was down and the loggers are sending saved data. If you do not see the Time of Last Transmission and Reading update, the Receiver may be locked up. Remove the USB and AC Power from the Receiver and turn it off. Wait one minute. Turn the Receiver on, and connect the AC Power and USB cables. The Receiver should operate normally.

    Red Flash: Logger/Repeater send data failed
    This can happen. If the red flashing persists, turn off the unit and remove AC power (if required) and allow the unit to sit for 1 minute. Turn the unit back on and plug in AC cable. The logger should resume normal operation.

    4 White Flashes every minute: USB no communication with Receiver.
    Remove USB cable from Receiver
    Remove AC power and turn off Receiver.
    Allow the Receiver to sit for one minute.
    Turn Receive on and connect the AC Power and USB cables.
    The Receive should operate normally.
    If not, repeat steps 1-4 above but move the USB cable to a different port on the PC.

    If the system was shut down and now the Loggers are sending saved data, some Loggers will get saved data through faster than others. Depending on the amount of logged data the Loggers need to send, the sample rate and the number of Loggers on the system, catching up could take a number of hours. Eventually all Loggers will catch up and communications will resume normally.

    If the Logger is still far behind and not catching up, you can clear the logger wirelessly  this will reset the logger time/date. Note: Clearing the logger will delete any logged data saved on the logger.

    Please create this account in you mail server so that it will be a valid email address in their server:

    Most users on a network with a mail server will not require an IP address.

    If you are using an ISP (Internet Service Provider) mail server you may be restricted from sending out emails generated by WiZARD2. Many ISPs block port 25 in order to block spam. This does not apply in all cases. If you do not receive email/text notification of alarm conditions and you receive an error message such as: The message was unable to deliver to (target email address) due to email exception. The IP you are using to send mail is not authorized. . . , then you will need to contact your internet service provider for their socks proxy server address. This is a non-dynamic IP address. Once you have been given an IP Address go to: Tools, System Settings. A box for Mail Server IP Address is located at the bottom of the System Settings window. Enter the IP Address and save. The error message should go away and email/text notifications should be delivered.
    -If the above steps fail, remove USB and AC power from Receiver
    -Turn unit off and leave off for 1 minute.
    -Return Power (turn on and plug in AC)
    Plug back in USB
    NOTE: removing power may result in some lost data

    If these steps fail, look on your software CD for a folder called: ViewUSB. Copy the folder to yor C drive. With WiZARD2 running and the Receiver attached, open the ViewUSB folder and open the ViewUSBHID Instructions text file for instructions on how to run the executable and determine the cause of the USB failure.

    Note: Early version of the software CD do not include this file. Contact kgiardino@dicksondata for a copy of the ViewUSB program.

    The Receiver is locked up and can not communicate with the PC.
    -If running Windows XP, make sure service pack 3 is installed.
    -Remove USB from Receiver for 5 seconds and reconnect. (Do not remove AC power)
    -Wizard should see Receiver and show as connected.
    -If he above steps fail, remove USB and AC power from Receiver
    -Turn unit off and leave for 1 minute.
    -Return Power (turn on and plug in AC)
    Plug back in USB

    Press down on the Push-to-Start button on the logger for two seconds.

    The alarm will reset for the duration of the alarm delay period (Alarm delay is set in the logger setup/edit screen)

    If the alarm condition still exist after the alarm delay period has passed then the alarm will sound again, otherwise the logger will continue to log normally.
    Yes. Plese make sure they are at least 1.5V nominal. Anything less will give you significantly shorter battery life.
    1) Install the software an a new PC

    2) Copy the DB from the old PC (c:program filesdicksondickson wizarddbwizard.db3) and save to the same location on the new PC.

    3) Copy the configer file from the old PC (c:program filesdicksondickson wizardconfigconfiger1.ini) and save to the same location on the new PC.

    4) Open the W2 application and connect the Receiver. The Receiver should connect and all loggers will resume data transmission.
    This system has been designed to handle up to 60 loggers.
