Why should I calibrate?

All instruments lose accuracy over time due to normal usage and the environmental conditions to which they are exposed.

How often should I calibrate?

For most applications, the recommended calibration interval is every twelve months.

N150 1-Point NIST Traceable Re-Calibration $156.00 Add
N350 3-Point NIST Traceable Re-Calibration $209.00 Add
N450 3-Point Ultima NIST A2LA Accredited Re-Calibration $315.00 Add
N550 3-Point Before and After NIST Traceable Re-Calibration $269.00 Add
What is NIST Calibration

NIST stands for the National Institute for Standards and Technology. This organization is responsible for maintaining the master for different measurements, such as the standard "foot", standard, "second", or standard "pound". NIST also maintains the standard for temperature, humidity and pressure.

NIST Traceable means that the measuring standard can be traced directly back to the master standard maintained by the NIST organization.

NIST-Traceable does not tell you the measurement accuracy of a metrologty service in any detail. Only metrology services that can document their ISO 17025 standard provided data on their best measurement uncertainty.

Why won't the logger communicate?

Make sure that USB is selected under File > Preferences > Communications.

Unplug USB cable and plug back in.

Remove all power to the logger (this will not cause the unit to lose any data within the logger, but you will have to start the unit logging again using DicksonWare) unplug the USB cable, power the logger back on, then reconnect the USB cable.

If the logger was used in a moist or humid environment Condensation may have formed on the unit. Place unit in a warm dry environment for 24 hrs. Clear memory and try again. These loggers are designed for use in a non-condensing environment. If the environment creates condensation, try placing the unit (temperature only models) in a small sealed plastic bag to protect it from condensation.

If possible, try another PC, and/or another USB port.

Why won't the display stay on?

If the unit is not connected to AC power, it may be in sleep mode. Press any of the front panel buttons to wake it up. If this does not work, make sure the back-up battery is good. The battery is for back-up only.

Possibly the wrong adapter is being used.

Graph displays readings of zero only

The logger has been set to a logging option of "Stop When Full". When the logger has no more room for additonal readings, FULL will display in the lower right hand portion of the display, and the graph will begin to display readings of zero. The logger must be cleared before it will begin logging again.

Table/graph displays minimum value readings of 0.

Minimum value will show 0 if power is removed.

Problems communicating with the Flash Card?

Flash cards not purchased through Dickson should be formatted. If formatted after experiencing issues the unit will have to come back to be reset.

Formatting instructions:
1. Insert flash card into card reader
2. Go to My Computer and right click on the drive letter that corresponds with the card
3. A menu will appear. Choose the format option
4. Another window will appear
5. Under the "File System" heading, drop down the menu and choose the "FAT32" option
6. Then click on the start at the bottom of the window

This will format the card in the correct manner for use with the unit.

Why doesn't all the downloaded data appear on my display?

The maximum time displayed on the graph is 13.7 hours when a 3 minute sample rate is selected.
