2. I am unable to communicate with my logger.

•Check the version of the software. This can be found under "Help" menu at the top and then select "About".

•Reconnect the download cable to the PC and the Logger.

•Also check download cable for physical defects.

•Is the correct communication interface selected (USB or Serial). This can be found with the software under file, preferences and communications.

•If using a Serial Port connection, is the correct COM port selected? This can be verified or changed by clicking on “Logger” from the Menu Bar, and select "Communications”. The “Port” Tab shows all available COM ports.

•Make sure the Software Speed is set to “Adaptive”. This can be verified or changed by clicking on “Logger” from the Menu Bar and select “Communications.” The “Speed” tab allows you to select different baud rates. (Note: This and other advanced options are only available by activating Advanced Serial Options. This can be accessed by clicking on File from the menu bar, then Preferences)

•If available, try connecting the download cable to another a COM port and try all COM port options through DicksonWare™.

•Reset Logger (Refer to your Logger manual)

•If available, try another logger or PC

•If the Logger has recently been removed from a cold environment (below 35°F), it may need to warm up before it will properly communicate.


3. My logger will not complete the download.

•If the Logger has been just removed from a cold environment (below 35°F), it may need to warm up before it will properly communicate.

•Check Logger battery status. The batteries may have enough voltage to establish communication, but not enough to sustain functions such as Downloading and Real-Time.


4. Why does downloaded Data show future dates or wrong date/time?

•Communication may have been interrupted when the logger was previously cleared. When a logger is cleared, ensure that Samples Per Channel field in Setup displays 0% full.

•The date/time is taken from PC, check your PC time


5. Why won't my customized Changes save?

•Many customized options are for presentation purposes only and will not save


6. What is the difference between DicksonWare™ and DicksonWare™ Secure?

DicksonWare Secure is 21CFR11 compliant, which means that it provides password protection, encrypts your data, generates an audit trail of user activity and labels all charts with the User ID and Serial Number of your logger.


7. What is the DicksonWare™ Secure default user name and password?

•User Name - admin

•Password - dickson


8. How do I change my password in DicksonWare™ Secure?

• Click on "Security" and select "Change Password"


9. Where do I get an IP Address for the Network Loggers (SM720/725 & TM725)?

•You have to get an IP Address from your network administrator. Dickson can not provide one for you.


10. Where do I get an Email IP Address for the Network Loggers (SM720/725 & TM725)?

•You have to get an Email IP Address from your network administrator. Dickson can not provide one for you.


11. How do I select whether temperatures are displayed in F or C for my downloaded data?

•Before the logger is downloaded, on the DicksonWare main screen, select file, preferences and temperature.


12. In realtime, why does my table data show "data missing"?

•You will see "data missing" when a probe is disconnected.


13. When downloading a logger, why do I get a message, "There is not enough logger data to graph"?

Your PC date format may need to be changed. Go to control panel, select the Regional and Language option. Select Regional options tab, press Customize, select the Date tab and select any format except dd-MMMM-yy, press Apply.
